Meeting Aesclepius

This was the perfect meditation from an over-the-top hectic and crazy week.  Last week I attended a 4-day Elite Training course through the company I work for and had to take an exam at the end of the program.  I passed the exam and now I am an Elite Trainer at the gym.  It was well worth the agony, but I am grateful that my life can return to the normal stress levels.

Meeting Aesclepius brought an end to the chaos as I focused my attentions on the wise one.  The image that my mind thought on was one from my childhood.  It may sound a little crazy, but when I was a child I had an encounter in the middle of the night with an old woman sitting in the chair next to my bed who was just watching me.  I could not detect her facial features, but I felt comforted by her presence.  She is the only that I imagined as the wise one in my meditation.  She gave me comfort and peace.  I sat with her throughout this exercise and felt calm and was filled with love.  Although she dressed in black, her body was in silhouette as I held her hand placed in her lap.  As I continue to practice these meditations, I will seek her out in order to find my way to peace.

It is interesting how my mind brought the wise one forward from my childhood.  Practicing and exploring meditation on my own will serve me and my clients well.  I feel that I can no at least guide someone to find their way to meditation by simply experiencing my own search.  Concentrating on something besides the ego is the first step which leads to wholeness.

  2. CONGRATULATIONS on your Elite Trainer Status! Rough week to throw that in on ya! I agree this exercise was really helpful in bringing closure to a hectic week. I have to say you topic was extremely interesting, that women must a have been a subconscious protection for you as a child. What an amazing peace that is!

  3. Usually that is not something that someone would remember but that is cool that it brought you peace. It is amazing how the little things from our childhood can bring us peace like that. That sounds like a cool accomplishment on the elite trainer status.

  4. Congratulations on the certification! I am also a trainer and I know how hard some of the tests can be! I laughed a little when you wrote that your life could return to its normal level of stress. It’s really sad that we are all so used to functioning under stress that we actually have levels of normal and above normal for it, as opposed to having just ‘normal’ and stressful. Your old wise woman story was VERY interesting to me. My grandmother is very similar where she has brief visions of people she does not know and cannot clearly see. Did you ever figure out who it might have been? A family member, maybe? I also found it interesting that she brought you comfort and still does. When my grandmother has those experiences, there is always a death the next day. It may be coincidental or just plain old b.s. for people who do not believe in it, but for me growing up with it, it’s how it goes (and I am not one to be a superstitious or spiritual person).
