Subtle Mind

I had difficulty with this exercise.  I could not concentrate … there was either too much noise going on outside, or too much noise inside my head.  I have a lot going on right now and the mental lists keep rolling through my mind.  It is obvious that I have a need for meditation and the practice of quieting my mind!  My fear is that if I don't create enough time for my spirit that my body will begin breaking down and I cannot afford to do that!  I hope to try this again.  I can only pray that my school work time will no longer be plagued with construction noise outside!

  1. Hi Carol,
I've had difficulties with these exercises, too, and distraction has been a big one. Try not to fear, that's what is bad for you. Love yourself, and the fact that you are trying! A little at a time will still get you there :-) My distractions are definitely serving a higher purpose in my develop, as they are mostly people related, negative and positive. As I'm trying to create a drama free zone in my life, mini workshops are springing up to make sure I "get it"!
I shared a link on the Discussion Board, and I'm going to share it with you, too. It is some very encouraging advice on meditation:

  2. I thought this exercise was better than the Love-Kindness. Sometime we have so much going on in our mind and don't really realize it. I hope yo find the spiritual peace you looking for.

  3. It's interesting that you found this meditation more challenging. Like Roxanne, I actually found it more appealing than "Loving Kindness." That's not to say that it's easy to meditate, but I found the voice much less intrusive in this exercise. Hopefully you stick with it and find that it gets easier!

  4. I am with you Carol, I have too much going through my mind as I try to do these exercises. I spend more time redirecting my mind back to where it is supposed to be. I do however keep trying. I think that is the most important thing...keep trying and don't give up.
